Central Oreon is a magical place during the fall. The summer crowds have died down, mornings are crisp yet the days are still warm, and the best way to cap off this wonderful season is by visiting on of the awesome pumpkin patches in Bend.

While Bend isn’t exactly awash in pumpkin patches, the ones we do have are out of this world. From small farms where you may just have the place to yourself, to large patches with some of the best views you’ll ever find while eating a candy apple and filling up a wheelbarrow with these fall gourds.

Our Favorite Pumpkin Patches in Bend

Here are our favorite pumpkin patches we have visited over the years.

Smith Rock Ranch

Season: October 1 – 31
Location: 1250 NE Wilcox Ave, Terrebonne, OR
Activities: Pumpkin picking, pony rides, corn maize, mini golf, petting zoo, pumpkin cannon, wagon rides

Smith Rock Ranch is a real working ranch that opens to the public during the month of October as a pumpkin patch.

The ranch sits at the base of Smith Rock which makes for a stunning backdrop as you’re roaming the fields looking for the perfect pumpkin.

On a clear day the views to the east are equally stunning with views of Mt. Jefferson and the three sisters.

We love this pumpkin patch as there is tons of room to spread out and enjoy the fields without feeling like you’re stuck in a crowd.

There is also a large area of the farm dedicated to activities like hay rides, carnival games, mini golf, pony rides, a corn maize, and fall treats like candy apples and funnel cakes.

We also love wandering through the large barn checking out all the varieties of glass corn and decorative pumpkins.

The pumpkin patch at Smith Rock Ranch opens October 1st and is open every day except Monday’s for pumpkin picking and is open Friday – Sunday’s for the fall festivies and the corn maize.

DD Ranch

Season: September 24 – October 31
Location: 3836 NE Smith Rock Way, Terrebonne, OR
Activities: Pumpkin picking, pony rides, hay ride, hay maze, food carts (weekends only)

Right around the corner from Smith Rock Ranch is the DD Ranch pumpkin patch. This slightly smaller farm shares the same beautiful backdrop for picking out your own pumpkins.

We love DD Ranch as it has more of an old time pumpkin patch feel while still having a ton of fun activities for the kids. Their barn provides a really cool aesthetic to the property and you can tell the owners really care about providing a fun experience.

DD Ranch is open for pumpkin picking every day except Monday and fall activities are available on Friday – Sunday.

Well Rooted Farms

Season: Closes October 31
Location: 20377 Swalley Rd, Redmond, OR
Activities: Pumpkin picking, veggie U-pick

Well Rooted Farms is well loved on this site for the veggie U-pick and amazing locally raised meat. We also love visiting them in October for pumpkin picking as it is about as authentic of a farm experience as you can get.

The U-pick at Well Rooted Farms have pumpkins intersperced throughout the farm along with other fall gourds so half the fun is the adventure of finding the pumpkins out amongst the other squash and tomatoes.

Starting in October, the farm will also put out piles of gourds to choose from in case you don’t want to go out into the fields to pick your own. We loved trying some new varieties of squash that we had never seen before.

The farm also puts on a fall festival, usually in early October, with fun activities for the kids like face painting, playing with piglets, and of course plenty of pumpkins.

I highly recommend following their Instagram account to keep up to date on when the festival will be taking place this year.
